Why go
A lowveld mining town at Kruger's Phalaborwa Gate — the only Kruger gate on the central-eastern Limpopo side, and a base for the central and northern Kruger. Phalaborwa is honest: a hot, functional town with a SANParks rest camp right at the gate and the Letaba river camp 50km inside the park. Its real role is as the Kruger-eve base for self-drivers entering at Phalaborwa, especially those combining the Panorama Route (3 hours west) with a central-Kruger entry.
